Just in time for Holy Week, there are fraudsters impersonating local priests and asking for gift cards for a friend battling cancer, or to help the poor, or asking for a favour, etc. This is a scam. Do not respond if you receive a fake email.
Scam requests can be made by varied means such as email or social media. Please be alert and vigilant and always follow-up any request personally to ensure its authenticity. Remember — it is highly unlikely that your parish priest has written you to ask for electronic gift cards.
