The Tree of Life is a beautiful work of sacred art which is a living memorial for our loved ones who have gone before us in faith, and to honour the spiritual milestones of our lives.
In the Book of Genesis, the Tree of Life stood in Eden as a sign of our immortality. Darkness entered the world and the first humans lost access to the Tree. To restore this, God sent his Son to die upon another Tree of Life, the Cross.
In the Book of Revelation, all who shared in the life, death and resurrection of Christ once again have access to the Tree of Life which “produces its fruit each month, and the leaves are for the healing of the nations” (Rev. 22.2).
Our Tree of Life, which is a smaller replica of ones located at major cathedrals throughout the world, is a reminder that we have been created for heaven, and it is to there that we are journeying in this life.
The Tree of Life is a work of art in itself, with a sculpted cast bronze trunk and branches. Its leaves are brass plaques on sculpted backgrounds. The surrounding elements of cast bronze acorns and stones add to the elegance of the Tree of Life which is a fitting permanent memorial for our departed loved ones and for all of life’s special moments at Corpus Christi.
The Tree of Life supports ongoing and special maintenance to our church building, so that it continues to be a beautiful spiritual home for many generations to come.
The Tree Elements
The Tree of Life is comprised of 4 elements: the Leaf, the Acorn, the Stone, and the Mini Tree. Each element has a brass plaque which will be custom engraved to remember your loved one or to celebrate that special life moment.
The Leaf
The Leaf is a brass plaque approximately 1.75″ x 3.5″ in size. It can accommodate up to 3 lines of text. For the purposes of consistency and aesthetics, a Leaf will follow a standout layout for engraving based upon the occasion it is commemorating. (As of December 2020, 343 leaves are available.)
The Acorn
The Acorn is cast bronze with a brass plate for engraving. It is approximately 4″ x 5″ in size. The plate area can accommodate up to 6 lines of text, including a personalized message or for a family to remember additional loved ones based upon the needs of the donor(s). (As of December 2020, 0 acorns are available.)
The Stone
The Stone is available in 2 styles of cast bronze with a brass plate for engraving. Both styles are approximately 4.5″ x 8″ in size. The size of the Stone allows for more text which can be customized to the needs of the donor(s). (As of December 2020, 9 stones are available.)
The Mini Tree
The Mini Tree is crafted from fine walnut wood, and is approximately 10″ x 7″ in size with a brass plate for engraving. The Mini Tree is ideal for a large family, group or organization to remember deceased members, or to honour outstanding dedication. The large size of the Mini Tree allows for plenty of text which can be customized to the needs of the donor(s). (As of December 2020, 1 Mini Tree is available.)
Become a Donor
A donor can be an individual, a couple, a family, a group of friends, a ministry or an organization. Multiple donors for a single Tree Element are asked to assign one person who will act as the primary contact.
Donation Options
Donations may be made by cash, cheque (payable to Corpus Christi Church), credit card and by debit. We request that the primary donor visit the Parish Office at the time of order. It is not required that all donors visit. Credit card payments can be made by completing the Multiple Donors form or by phone.
Tax receipts will be issued to all donors for the value of their donation.
Payment Plans
Payment plans are available for all 4 tree elements when the donor is an individual, couple, or an organization. The first payment reserves the tree element. The element will not be engraved until the full donation has been received.
A payment plan is not available when multiple donors are sharing the cost of the total donation.
